dc.description.abstract	El presente proyecto de grado, está basado en el mejoramiento del subproceso de gestión ambiental de la UIS (Universidad Industrial de Santander) mediante la reformulación del PGIR (Programa de Gestión Integral de Residuos) para el campus central, una institución académica de educación superior en la ciudad de Bucaramanga. Para llevar a cabo el desarrollo del proyecto, se realizó una revisión de las disposiciones técnicas y legales vigentes aplicables al campus central en lo atiente a la gestión de los residuos junto con la ejecución de un diagnóstico sobre el grado actual de cumplimiento del PGIR de la institución frente a la normatividad que le rige. En la etapa del diagnóstico, se realizaron visitas a todas las unidades del campus central para evaluar el cumplimiento de la normatividad legal ambiental aplicable por medio de una herramienta de evaluación del PGIR como lo fue la lista de chequeo; esta evaluación se realizó junto con el apoyo del área de gestión ambiental de la universidad. Posteriormente, se realizó la caracterización cualitativa y cuantitativa de los residuos generados en las diferentes unidades académico-administrativas de la institución. El presente documento define un plan de tratamiento y disposición final para cada uno de los tipos de residuos generados en la universidad, empleando la formulación de material educativo dirigido a la comunidad para la socialización del PGIR. Finalmente, para llevar a cabo el seguimiento y medición a la eficacia e impacto de este en el campus central, se realizó un sistema de indicadores de gestión.
dc.description.abstractenglish	The present degree project is based on the improvement of the environmental management sub-process of the UIS (Universidad Industrial de Santander) through the reformulation of the PGIR (Integral Waste Management Program) for the central campus, an academic institution of higher education in the city of Bucaramanga. In order to carry out the development of the project, a revision of the current technical and legal dispositions applicable to the central campus was carried out in order to assist in the management of the waste along with the execution of a diagnosis on the current degree of compliance with the PGIR of the institution against the regulations that govern it. At the diagnosis stage, visits were made to all the units of the central campus to assess compliance with the applicable environmental legal regulations through a PGIR evaluation tool, as was the checklist; this evaluation was carried out together with the support of the environmental management area of the university. Subsequently, the qualitative and quantitative characterization of the waste generated in the different academic-administrative units of the institution was carried out. This document defines a treatment and final disposal plan for each type of waste generated in the university, using the formulation of educational material addressed to the community for the socialization of the PGIR. Finally, to carry out the monitoring and measurement of the effectiveness and impact of this in the central campus, a system of management indicators was carried out.
