dc.description.abstract	La electricidad es un servicio público con el que no cuentan los pobladores de muchas regiones del país, siendo una de éstas el corregimiento de Caracolí ubicada en el municipio de San Juan del Cesar en el departamento de la Guajira. Dada la poca posibilidad para brindarle electricidad a la región mencionada mediante una red alimentada por el sistema interconectado nacional, se ha decidido buscar soluciones alternativas mediante el aprovechamiento de los recursos energéticos disponibles en la zona. Partiendo de la estimación de las necesidades energéticas de la zona, se buscaron alternativas de generación a través de las fuentes no convencionales renovables de energía disponibles en la región, una vez identificadas las fuentes aprovechables, se hace necesario estimar su potencial y las diferentes alternativas para su posible explotación con lo cual se podrá determinar si es factible considerarla como opción para suplir las necesidades energéticas encontradas. Después de elegir las alternativas más factibles, se procede a su dimensionamiento para luego mediante una comparación financiera y ambiental poder determinar cuál es la mejor opción. Finalmente se establecen los elementos necesarios para presentar una propuesta formal a los organismos competentes de tal forma que puedan intervenir y ayudar a mitigar las necesidades del corregimiento.
