dc.description.abstract	En este trabajo se presenta el resultado de un estudio petrográfico y geoquímico de las rocas que conforman el Grupo Villa de Cura, en la zona ubicada entre el Pao de Zarate y San Sebastián de los Reyes sobre el Río Caramate, Estado de Aragua, Venezuela. El Grupo Villa de Cura está constituido por tres formaciones las cuales han sido denominadas como Formación Santa Isabel, Formación El Carmen, Formación El Caño y El Chino, siendo en orden estratigráfico más antigua y con mayor grado de metamorfismo la Formación Santa Isabel y la más joven y con menor grado de metamorfismo la Formación El Caño y El Chino. Estas rocas han sido afectadas por un metamorfismo de alta presión/baja temperatura donde se formaron rocas de facies pumpellyita-actinolita, lawsonita-albita y esquistos azules. A partir del análisis geoquímico se obtuvo que las rocas que corresponden a este grupo tienen composición basáltica con bajo contenido en potasio lo que define que la afinidad de la roca es toleítica y composición basáltica con afinidad calco-alcalina, por la composición de las rocas se puede pensar que el ambiente de formación es de un arco que posteriormente se adosó al continente por un proceso de convergencia en el que estas rocas sufrieron la transformación metamórfica.
dc.description.abstractenglish	This work presents the results of a petrographic and geochemical study of the rocks that make up the Villa de Cura Group, in the field area between Pao de Zarate and San Sebastián de los Reyes on the Caramate River, Aragua State, Venezuela. The Villa de Cura Group consists of three formations which have been denominated as Santa Isabel Formation, El Carmen Formation, El Caño Formation and El Chino, being in the oldest stratigraphic order and with a higher degree of metamorphism the Santa Isabel Formation and the more young and with less degree of metamorphism El Caño and El Chino Formation. These rocks have been affected by a high pressure / low temperature metamorphism where rockspumpellyite-actinolite, lawsonite-albite and blueschists were formed. From the geochemical analysis it was obtained that the rocks that correspond to this group have basaltic composition with low content in potassium which defines that the affinity of the rock is toleitic and basaltic composition with calco-alkaline affinity, for the composition of the rocks is can think that the environment of formation is of an arc that later were attached to the continent by a process of convergence in which these rocks underwent the metamorphic transformation.
