dc.description.abstract	El estudio se realizó en la zona rural del municipio de Aratoca, departamento de Santander, en la vereda El Palmar, donde ocurrió un fenómeno de remoción en masa proveniente de un macizo rocoso de 200 metros de altura. Las rocas provenientes del escarpe afectaron considerablemente a una familia, la cual fue desalojada y reubicada por las autoridades municipales desde el inicio del movimiento, también obstaculizaron el único carreteable de la vereda ocasionando perdidas económicas a los campesinos. Por tal razón se inició el estudio con el fin de identificar el origen y los mecanismos de falla presentes en el fenómeno y dar una valoración de amenaza y riesgo de la zona, además proponer medidas de mitigación y control de los caídos. Para determinar el área de influencia se realizaron análisis de deslizamiento, volteo y dinámica de rocas, éste último utilizando el software Colorado Rockfall Simulation Program (CRSP) el cual arrojó la distancia que puede alcanzar las rocas desprendidas del macizo. Luego de analizados los resultados del estudio se determinó que la zona es de amenaza alta pero su nivel de riesgo es medio ya que no existe infraestructura esencial para la comunidad. Los capítulos del 1 al 6 establecen las generalidades del municipio, antecedentes del fenómeno y metodología, el capitulo 7 describe la estratificación y geología estructural de la zona, el octavo capitulo se refiere a los mecanismos de falla presentes en el talud, el noveno capitulo se dedica a la valoración de la amenaza y el riesgo. Posteriormente en el capitulo 10 se realiza un planteamiento de solución para mitigar y controlar el movimiento, y finalmente en el capitulo 11 se hizo mención de sugerencias y recomendaciones.
dc.description.abstractenglish	The study was carried out in the rural area of the municipality of Aratoca, department of Santander, in the sidewalk El Palmar, where occurred a rocky phenomenon of mass removal coming from a rocky solid of 200 meters high. The rocks coming from an escarp affected considerably to a family, which was evicted and relocated by the municipal authorities from the beginning of the movement, they also blocked the single road for the sidewalk causing economic losses to the peasants. For such a reason the study began with the purpose of identifying the origin and the flaw mechanisms present in the phenomenon and to give a threat valuation and risk of the area, also to propose mitigation measures and control of the deads. To determine the influence area, it was carried out a slip analysis, toppling and dynamics of rocks, this last using the software Colorado Rockfall Simulation Program (CRSP) which calculates the distance that can be reached by the removed rocks from a solid. After having analyzed the results of the study, it was determined that the area is on high threat but its level of risk is medium since essential infrastructure does not exist for the community. From the chapters 1 to 6, it establishes the generalities of the municipality, antecedents of the phenomenon and methodology, the chapter number 7 describes the stratification and structural geology of the area, the eighth chapter refers to the flaw mechanisms that are presented in the bank, the ninth chapter is disposed to the valuation of threats and risks. Later on in the chapter 10 is proposed a solution to mitigate and control the movement, and finally in the chapter 11 the authors give suggestions and recommendations.
