dc.description.abstract	La región del Magdalena Medio santandereano cuenta con un área potencial para el desarrollo de proyectos forestales, esta situación, sumada a los altos índices de crecimiento, productividad y calidad de productos maderables propios de la región, resultan atractivos a la industria y a inversionistas del sector forestal. Sin embargo, el Magdalena Medio ha sido fuertemente afectado por problemas de tipo social y de orden público, así como por factores agro-económicos, en ese sentido el gobierno nacional mediante programas de reactivación del sector agroindustrial, viene acompañando mediante la generación de espacios de desarrollo y transmisión de conocimiento forestal, siendo COLCIENCIAS la cabeza de esta iniciativa. Así mismo, la creación de alianzas entre entidades educativas, empresas privadas y entidades privadas está a la orden del día, con el fin de fortalecer el componente tecnológico del sector forestal. Por lo anterior, un proyecto forestal con los controles adecuados genera un impacto ambiental mínimo, entidades como el ICA (Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario) se encargan de regular las condiciones fitosanitarias de cultivos agrícolas y certificar sus buenas practicas. Por otro lado, Colombia es un país con suelos ricos en sustratos, esto beneficia el desarrollo de cultivos y también las condiciones ambientales favorecen el desarrollo de estos cultivos. En la región del Magdalena Medio se han priorizado iniciativas de negocio con rendimientos más tempranos como la ganadería y agricultura tradicional, impedido el desarrollo y escalamiento de proyectos forestales de largo plazo. Por ello, se propone la puesta en siembra y el aprovechamiento de un cultivo industrial de teca, dirigido a mercado regional donde esta madera es reconocida con altos precios por su gran durabilidad y alta resistencia al medio.
dc.description.abstractenglish	The Middle Magdalena region in Santander has a potential area for the development of forestry projects, this issue, coupled with high rates of growth, productivity and quality of its own wood products, are attractive to industry and investors in the forestry sector. However, the Middle Magdalena has been strongly affected by social problems and public order as well as agro-economics factors. In this sense, the national government through programs of recovery for the agro-industry sector, come with the development and the forestry knowledge transfer, leaded by COLCIENCIAS. Likewise, the creation of partnerships between educational institutions, private companies and private entities are the order of the day, in order to strengthen the technological component of the forestry sector. Therefore, a forestry project with appropriate controls generates minimal environmental impact. Institutes such as the ICA (Colombian Agricultural Institute) are responsible for regulating the phytosanitary conditions of crops and certification of their good practices. Moreover, Colombia is a country with rich soil in substrates, favoring the development of crops and also environmental conditions favor the development of these crops. In the Middle Magdalena region, business initiatives with faster yields like livestock and traditional agriculture were prioritized, blocking the development and scaling up of forest and long-term projects. Therefore, the seeding and use of an industrial crop of teak has been proposed, aimed at the regional market, where this wood is recognized with high prices due to its high durability and high resistance to the environment. Research shows attractive results for long term investors and allows regarded as feasible the project, taking into account the analysis done as part of the structured project like a business plan.
