dc.description.abstract	En este trabajo de grado se describe las mejoras implementadas en el proceso de almacenamiento de materiales en el almacén central de Acerías Paz del Río. Se realizó un diagnóstico inicial de los procesos relacionados con el almacenamiento de materiales, se identificaron los factores que lo afectan y cómo éstos se ven reflejados directamente en el servicio al cliente prestado por la coordinación de materiales. Luego de identificados los factores clave más importantes, se diseñaron propuestas de mejora enfocadas en la corrección de algunos errores encontrados en los procesos y en el mejoramiento de cada uno de éstos. El presente documento está dividido en tres partes principales, comienza con un diagnóstico preliminar de los procesos relacionados con el almacenamiento de materiales donde se identifican las oportunidades de mejora, con base en éstas se continúa con el diseño de propuestas enfocadas en solucionar los problema de estandarización de procesos, identificación, trazabilidad y ubicación de los materiales dentro del almacén. Por último, se estructura un sistema de indicadores de control que permite llevar un seguimiento a la confiabilidad del inventario y al nivel de servicio al cliente. Luego de diseñadas las propuestas se procedió a la validación de los objetivos iniciales del proyecto, incluyéndose además, una serie de recomendaciones y observaciones que permitirían que el proceso de mejoramiento en el almacén continúe y sea permanente.
dc.description.abstractenglish	This degree Project describes the improvement measures implemented in the storage process of materials in the main warehouse of Acerías Paz del Río. A diagnosis of the storage of materials processes was done. Then, the factors affecting it were identified as well as how they are directly reflected on the costumer service provided by the Coordination of Materials. Once the most important key factors were identified, improvement proposals were designed. They were aimed at correcting some mistakes found in the processes and aimed at improving them. This project is divided into three main parts. It starts with a preliminary diagnosis of the processes related to the storage of materials in which opportunities for improving are identified. It goes on with the proposals designed for each of these opportunities. In this stage, an analysis of the initial conditions was done. Then, objectives were set. After that, the requirements were specified. Also, it was necessary to state expected outcomes of the implementation of the proposals aimed at solving the processes standardization problems. Along with that, a process of identification, traceability and location of the materials in the warehouse was done. Subsequently, a control tool was designed in order to monitor the reliability of the inventory and the level of costume service. After having designed the proposals, the validity of the initial objectives was carried out. A list of recommendations and observations was included in order to allow the process to continue improving as well as to guarantee its permanency.
