dc.description.abstractenglish	The appearance of Blockchain technology has represented a paradigm shift in human interactions and transactions with an impact on the world of law. One of its main applications has been the development of the so-called Smart Contracts, computer protocols that, with the most advanced security and programming systems, have the ability to execute events predefined by the parties in an autonomous and decentralized way, offering with it a delegation of the execution of the contract to the software and certainty of compliance. From a historical account of its appearance, it analyzes what is related to its concept, legal nature and function within commercial transactions, it is then necessary to carry out a comprehensive study of the characteristics and implications from the legal point of view that these technological tools will entail for the general theory of contracts. The object of this research work is related to relevant information on its origin, diagnosis at the national level, legal concept, contract formation process, practical application, challenges from consumer law, regulation, among other things, keys to contribute to the understanding and legal management of these novel tools within the Colombian commercial ecosystem.
