dc.description.abstract	La infraestructura se visualiza a nivel mundial como un factor esencial para el desarrollo económico, social y competitivo de los países. Entidades internacionales como el Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID), El Foro Económico Mundial (WEF), Comisión Económica Para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL), entre otras; generan aportes al estudio de la infraestructura a nivel mundial; cobijando los sectores de servicios públicos, transporte y las tecnologías de la información y comunicación (TIC), como condiciones básicas para generar un ambiente próspero en las naciones, otorgando posibilidades para el desarrollo productivo, económico y social de la población mundial. Este trabajo de investigación, se basa en el análisis de la competitividad desde el pilar infraestructura para el departamento de Santander. El índice departamental de competitividad, elaborado por consejo privado de competitividad (CPC) y el Centro de Pensamiento en Estrategias Competitivas de la Universidad del Rosario (CEPEC), es la fuente metodológica para el estudio de la competitividad con base en la infraestructura de Santander, para el periodo comprendido por los años (2012-2015). En primera medida se elabora un análisis comparativo a nivel nacional entre los departamentos evaluados por el Consejo Privado y la evolución de los datos en los últimos años del reporte de competitividad del índice departamental, resaltando finalmente las condiciones que han incidido en el ambiente competitivo del departamento de Santander.
