dc.description.abstract	El principal objetivo de este artículo consiste en analizar el desarrollo industrial en el departamento de Santander, identificando variables que pautaron o determinaron su evolución a través de la primera mitad del siglo XX, en la cual se obtuvo una gran participación de la región en la economía. Sin embargo, no está claro cómo diferentes aspectos culturales y socio-políticos del país afectaron el desarrollo de las empresas del sector industrial en particular. A partir de una perspectiva histórica, por medio de estudios financieros se buscó identificar las principales causas que contribuyeron a su decaimiento; esto, con el fin de contribuir al desarrollo del centro de pensamiento universidad-empresa y poder mostrar a los actuales empresarios que el departamento antiguamente se ubicaba entre los cinco que tenían mayor control del sector fabril, demostrando de tal forma, que hoy en día se cuenta con recursos naturales e intelectuales que permitirían una nueva etapa en la historia del sector industrial que contribuiría a su progreso lo que ayudaría a retomar el antiguo enfoque del área que mayor influencia tenía en el ente territorial.
dc.description.abstractenglish	The main objective of this article is to analyze industrial development in the department of Santander, identifying variables that set off or determined their evolution through the first half of the twentieth century, in which a large share of the region was obtained in the economy. However, it is not clear how different cultural and socio-political development of the country affected companies in the industrial sector in particular. From a historical perspective, through financial studies sought to identify the main causes that contributed to its decay; this, in order to contribute to the development of the center of thought university-company and to show current employers that the department formerly stood among the five who had greater control of the manufacturing sector. Demonstrating that today natural and intellectual resources that will allow a new stage in the history of the industrial sector can contribute to the progress which would help resume the old focus/plan of the area which has a greater influence in the local authority.
