dc.description.abstract	Por medio de éste trabajo de grado que consistió en la elaboración de un material de consulta y estudio para los estudiantes de la asignatura Materiales de Construcción del programa de Ingeniería Civil de la Universidad Industrial de Santander, se planteó un apoyo de consulta entendible e ilustrativo acerca de los temas principales a tratar en la asignatura. El libro consta de siete capítulos: AGREGADOS PÉTROS, LIGANTES HIDRÁULICOS, LIGANTES BITUMINOSOS, MATERIALES COMPUESTOS, MADERAS, MATERIALES METÁLICOS Y MATERIALES CERÁMICOS. Cada capítulo consta de una descripción inicial del material, sus características y propiedades, su producción descrita en diferentes pasos con ilustraciones, un marco teórico y por último su usos y aplicaciones en la industria de la construcción; además de las normas colombianas e internacionales (ICONTEC, INVIAS, ACI, ASTM) dispuestas para una adecuada elaboración y empleo de los diferentes materiales tratados en el libro. En los capítulos de Agregados Pétreos y Materiales Compuestos se desarrollan ejercicios ilustrativos, paso a paso y próximos a situaciones de la realidad, para que facilite su comprensión al estudiante. Y en los demás capítulos del libro se planteó un cuestionario con preguntas claves para que complemente y diagnostique el conocimiento de los estudiantes. No se desea con éste texto igualar ni reemplazar los textos existentes sobre éstos temas. Los objetivos planteados para éste libro se cumplirán con la ayuda del docente y con el interés propio de cada estudiante.
dc.description.abstractenglish	Through this grade work, that was the development of a reference material for students of the subject of Construction Materials for Civil Engineering from the Universidad Industrial de Santander, was supported by an understandable and informative consultation on of the main topics to be covered in the course. The book contains seven chapters: ADDED PETROS, hydraulic binders, bituminous binders, COMPOSITE MATERIALS, TIMBER, METALS AND CERAMICS MATERIALS. Each chapter consists of an initial description of the material, its characteristics and properties described in different production steps with illustrations, a theoretical framework and, ultimately, their uses and applications in the construction industry, as well as Colombian and international standards (ICONTEC, INVIAS, ACI, ASTM) arranged for proper development and use of different materials treated in the book. In the chapters of rock aggregates and composites are developed illustrative exercises, step by step closer to reality situations, to facilitate student understanding. And in other chapters of the book raised a questionnaire to supplement key and diagnose the students' knowledge. Do not want this text to match or replace existing texts on these topics. The objectives for this book will be fulfilled with the help of teachers and the interests of each student.
