dc.description.abstractenglish | This work studies the behavior of grids constructed from Pet bottles as an alternative for the improvement of a subgrade. Also It made an analysis of grids made with polypropylene vessels was carried out. For the selection of the bottles with which the grids were assembled, their uniformity was taken into account, so as to allow a greater bonding surface between them. Axial load tests were performed on individual bottles and 3x3 grids, filled with thick aggregate held in ½ ", 3/8", ¼ "and granular base material, in order to select the material that would yield the best results. In this case the one with the greatest effort was the aggregate retained in ¼ ", reaching an effort of 0.0258 Ton / cm ^ 2. Once the filler material was defined, 3x3 grids were tested with 7.5, 10 and 12 cm heights, to define which of these heights gives better data. A better performance was obtained by the grid of 7.5 cm in height, reaching an effort of 0.037 Ton / cm ^ 2. Finally, two gratings, one of these pasted in linear and one diagonal form, of 7.5 cm high and filled with ¼ "aggregate were assembled and tested in confinement condition, applying an axial load on a circular area neoprene Of 6 "of diameter, and thus to simulate the footprint of a real rim. These grids showed similar results, bearing stresses of 0.041 Ton / cm2, the grid adhered in a linear form, and 0.034 Ton / cm2 the diagonally bonded, deforming approximately 5 mm minus the second. Comparing the results of supported effort obtained with the effort involved in the permissible load on a tandem type axle in Colombia, which is 0.0056 Ton / cm ^ 2 11 Ton with a tire inflation pressure of 80 psi, we can conclude that in the mesh Armed with Pet bottles can circulate up to trucks type C3, since the effort that supports a grate of 7.5 cm of height pasted in linear form is of 0.041 Ton / cm2. However it is recommended to use in parking lots, and pedestrian paths. 3
