dc.description.abstractEl inventario de lento movimiento merece un tratamiento diferente al resto del inventario. En los últimos años se han realizado publicaciones importantes sobre el tema; sin embargo, aún es desconocido y por lo tanto no es usado en empresas Colombianas. El presente trabajo aborda el problema de inventario de lento movimiento para la empresa Carbones del Cerrejon Limited de manera teórica y práctica. Se hizo una amplia revisión bibliográfica sobre la gestión de inventarios de lento movimiento sistematizando los avances más destacados realizados en las dos últimas décadas. Uno de los resultados más significativos es el modelo de pronóstico para la demanda de los productos que conforman el grupo de inventario de lento movimiento. Con el propósito de hallar los pronósticos de la demanda intermitente, la cual caracteriza al inventario del lento movimiento, se siguió el modelo SBA que ha demostrado ser superior empíricamente a otros métodos. El pronóstico de la demanda es un input al modelo de inventarios usado en este proyecto. Así mismo, en el trabajo se presenta la metodología para determinar la criticidad de los productos (repuestos), la cual se usó para segmentar el inventario y permitió establecer las metas de nivel de servicio al cliente. El modelo propuesto en el trabajo se basa en la metodología del Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences para determinar cuantitativamente la criticidad. Para la política de inventario (T,r, Q) se modeló la demanda mediante la distribución de probabilidad gamma para el stock de seguridad. Finalmente, en el proyecto se presenta una serie de recomendaciones a Cerrejón con el fin de mejorar los procesos sobre el manejo de inventario de lento movimiento.
dc.description.abstractenglishSlow-moving Inventory deserves a special treatment different than the rest of the inventory. Publications on the subject have emerged in recent years. However, this topic is still unknown and therefore not used in Colombian companies. The problem of slow-moving inventory is addressed in this paper for the Cerrejon Company with a theorical and practical approach. An extensive literature review about management of slow-moving inventories was done summarizing the most important advances reached in the last two decades. Demand Forecasting Model for products that belong to the group of slow-moving inventory is one of the most significant findings. In order to estimate the intermittent demand forecasting, which characterizes the slow moving inventory, The SBA method was used, which has empirically shown to be superior than others methods. The demand forecasting is an input to the inventory model used in this project. In the same way, this paper presents the methodology for determining the criticality of the products (spare parts), which was used to segment the inventory and allowed to establish the level goals of customer service. The model proposed in the paper is based on the methodology of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences to determine criticality quantitatively. The demand was modeled through a gamma probability distribution for the safety stock in the inventory policy (T,r,Q). Finally, a set of recommendations to Cerrejon are presented on this project to improve the processes of the slow-moving inventory management.
