dc.description.abstractEl presente trabajo de investigación tiene como propósito, en primera instancia, conceptualizar la conciencia a partir de las funcionuna base teórica y conceptual de qué es. Así las cosas, nuestro propósito no es otro que pretender sentar unas bases claras acerca de la conciencia desde dos de las corrientes principales del monismo psicofísico materialista contemporáneo. En segunda instancia, sobre el concepto de conciencia se ha estudiado la pertinencia del término; es decir, si tal cosa existe o no; y de existir, i) si responde a patrones mecanicistas, biológicos, neurológicos, en otras palabras, si responde a fenómenos físicos; y ii) si es un fenómeno independiente de toda realidad empírica que puede ser estudiada por las ciencias naturales. De acuerdo con esto, se abre la puerta hacia el debate del libre albedrío: si se es o no responsable de los actos cometidos. Pues, el libre albedrío choca con cualquier propuesta que sea de corte determinista, en el caso de esta investigación, con respecto a la postura de P. M. Churchland que termina por anular dicho planteamiento al considerarlo vacío. Ya desde otro ángulo, las consideraciones acerca de la conciencia a partir de la teoría memética como el resultado de un proceso evolutivo cultural en donde la conciencia terminaría siendo cuestión de un resultado colectivo, se presentaría como una propuesta no-reduccionosta, siendo este el caso de la propuesta de D. Dennett.
dc.description.abstractenglishThis research paper has the purpose, first, to conceptualize the conscience from the differences and the similarities offered by the "Theory of the Eliminative Materialism" by Paul M. Churchland and the "Theory of Functionalism" by Daniel Dennet. It will hold that the conscience is investigated and results are established, without first having a theoretical and conceptual basis of what it is. Therefore our purpose is none other than to create the foundation for consciousness from two of the main theories of contemporary materialistic psychophysical monism. i) it responds to mechanistic, biological, or neurological patterns, in other words, if it responds to physical phenomenon, and if so, ii) it is an independent phenomenon of any empirical reality that can be studied by the natural sciences. According to this, the topic is up for debate regarding free will, that is, whether it is responsible for the acts committed, or not. Thus, the free will clashes with any proposal that is deterministic, as such, this research paper with respect to the position of P. M. Churchland ends up annulling this approach because of the fact of considering it empty. From another perspective, the considerations about consciousness from the memetic theory as the result of a cultural evolutionary process where consciousness would end up being a matter of a collective result, would be presented as a non-reduction proposal, this being the case of the proposal of D. Dennett.
