dc.description.abstractenglish | In the following article, we discuss the conceptual legitimacy of thinking about the relationship between human beings and machines in terms of subordination and domination in compliance with a hierarchical or vertical thinking standpoint. With the intent of determining the impossibility of vertical thinking for adequately explaining the relation between humanity and technics, we shall use the formulation of the domination relationship that consciousness establishes with its possible objects in The Phenomenology of Spirit. We shall demonstrate that the imbalance in the culture that stems from the incomprehension of technical reality, denounced by Simondon in The Mode of Existence of Technical Objects, responds to the limitations of vertical thinking that Hegel points out. For this purpose, we shall evidence that the incomprehension of technics in culture passes through division and verticality in the same fashion as the self-consciousness that establishes relations of domination and subordination in the Phenomenology. We conclude that the possibility of thinking about the technical object as a dominant, or subordinate of human beings must be rejected. Accordingly, theoretical efforts surrounding technics must be focused towards the establishment and improvement of certain technical knowledge that recognizes the unity between culture and technics, and allows the recovery of a balance between technics and the other species of human thinking.
