dc.description.abstractEn este trabajo se explora la manera en la cual, un grupo de vecinos considerados finotablesfl, afrontaron el proceso de resquebrajamiento del orden monárquico, en un territorio fronterizo del Caribe neogranadino. La reflexión se realiza en torno a cuatro ejes fundamentales: las vinculaciones familiares de los vecinos finotablesfl, el patrimonio de los vecinos notables y el peso que tenían los negocios en el establecimiento y consolidación de nuevos vínculos así como de vínculos ya existentes, las dinámicas de la política a finales del antiguo régimen en una zona fronteriza, y, finalmente, la actitud asumida por los vecinos notables de Valledupar frente al proceso de independencia de la Nueva Granada, durante la Primera República (1808-1815). Los primeros tres ejes de análisis buscan ubicar a estos individuos en sus trayectorias privadas y públicas con el fin de establecer el peso que tenían sus vínculos familiares y personales en el control de un espacio fronterizo como Valledupar y su jurisdicción. Se evidencia, a partir de estos ejes, que los vecinos notables contribuyeron en la conformación de fiuniversos de gobernabilidadfl que, por un lado, garantizaban la extensión de la soberanía del Rey, y, por otro lado, les permitió explotar de manera conveniente los recursos del territorio y cooptar las esferas del poder cívico-militar. En el último eje, se argumenta, contra las versiones tradicionalmente aceptadas, que en Valledupar el proceso de independencia no fue el resultado del surgimiento de un proyecto revolucionario, sino, el resultado de las presiones de la guerra que llevaron a los vecinos finotablesfl a asumir una actitud ambigua frente a la destrucción del Antiguo Régimen. Es necesario advertir, sin embargo, que este es apenas un primer acercamiento, de un trabajo de mayor envergadura que esperamos desarrollar en el mediano plazo.
dc.description.abstractenglishThis work explores the way in which, a group of notable citizens, confronted the end of the monarchical order, in a frontier territory of the New Granada™s Caribbean coast. The reflection is articulated in four fundamental axes: the family links of the notable citizens, its patrimonies and the importance of the business in the establishment and consolidation of new links as well as of already existing links, the dynamics of the politics to ends of the fiAncien Regimefl in a border zone, and, finally, the attitude assumed by the notable citizens of Valledupar set against the Process of independence of the New Granada, during the First Republic (1808-1815). The first three axes seek to locate these individuals in their private and public paths, in order to establishing the importance that had their family and personnel links in the control of a frontier territory as Valledupar and their jurisdiction. From these axes, we can evidence, that the notable citizens contributed in the conformation of "universes of governability" that, on the one hand, they guaranteed the extension of the sovereignty of the King, and, on the other hand, permitted them to exploit in a convenient way the resources of the territory and to co-opt the spheres of the civilian and military power. In the last axis, is argued, against the versions traditionally accepted, that in Valledupar the process of independence was not the result of the rise of a revolutionary project, but, the result of the pressures of the war that carried the "notable" citizens to assume an ambiguous attitude set against the destruction of the fiAncien Regimefl. It is necessary to notify, nevertheless, that this is barely a first approach, of a work of greater importance that we expect to develop in the medium time limit.
