dc.description.abstract	Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo investigar errores de transferencia comunes cometidos por personas de habla hispana que están aprendiendo inglés como lengua extranjera. El estudio abarcó tres semestres, enfocado a estudiantes de tercer y cuarto año matriculados en la Licenciatura en Lenguas Extranjeras (LLE) de la Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS). Identificamos ocho distintos grupos de errores: verbos, concordancia, elección de palabras, artículos, preposiciones, cuantificadores, sintaxis y sujeto. El objetivo era obtener una comprensión integral de los desafíos de transferencia de idiomas a lo largo del viaje de aprendizaje de idiomas de los estudiantes y evaluar si las percepciones de los profesores Estaban alineadas con datos cuantitativos. Se utilizó un enfoque de métodos mixtos, incorporando retroalimentación cualitativa de los profesores con un estudio cuantitativo de errores lingüísticos. Los hallazgos demostraron que los estudiantes cometían con frecuencia errores de transferencia en una variedad de áreas. Notablemente, se encontraron dificultades comunes con la concordancia sujeto-verbo y las preposiciones. Vale la pena mencionar que los errores de sujeto fueron bastante notorios en el estudio. El emparejamiento entre los datos cuantitativos, y las observaciones cualitativas realizadas por los profesores comprobaron que eran conscientes de los desafíos lingüísticos que enfrentan sus estudiantes. En conclusión, esta investigación proporciona información valiosa sobre los obstáculos lingüísticos que enfrentan los estudiantes nativos de habla hispana al aprender Inglés. Los resultados resaltan la necesidad de una estrategia exhaustiva para la formación de idiomas que se centre en tipos de errores particulares. Una investigación adicional debería profundizar en la aplicación de enfoques eficaces para aumentar la competencia lingüística y aliviar las imprecisiones de transferencia sobre preposiciones y concordancia sujeto-verbo
dc.description.abstractenglish	This research aimed to investigate common transfer errors made by Spanish-speaking students who are learning English as a foreign language. The study spanned three semesters, focusing on junior and senior students enrolled in the Licenciatura en Lenguas Extranjeras (LLE) program at Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS). We identified eight distinct groups of errors: verbs, agreement, choice of words, articles, prepositions, quantifiers, syntax, and subject. The objective was to gain a comprehensive understanding of language transfer challenges throughout the students’ language learning journey and to assess whether professors' perceptions aligned with quantitative data. A mixed-methods approach was used, incorporating professors' qualitative feedback with a quantitative study of language errors. The findings showed that transfer errors were frequently made by learners in a variety of areas. Notably, common difficulties were found with subject-verb agreement and prepositions. It is worth mentioning that subject errors were quite notorious in the study. The pairing between the quantitative data, and the qualitative observations made by professors verified that they were aware of the linguistic challenges faced by their students. In conclusion, this research provides valuable insights into the linguistic hurdles faced by native Spanish-speaking students learning English. The results highlight the need for a thorough strategy for language training that targets particular error types. Additional investigation ought to delve into the application of effective approaches to augment linguistic proficiency and alleviate transfer inaccuracies about prepositions and subject-verb agreement.
