dc.description.abstractenglish | The vertical electric sounding method (VES) is one of the most important geophysical methods due to its simplicity in field work and low cost of operation, for this reason it is used in various investigations of geophysical interest such as prospecting for mineral deposits, geological cartography, geotechnical and hydrological investigations, etc. In the present work, a detailed analysis of the sensitivity function or Fréchet derivative will be carried out for different spatial distributions of electrodes commonly used in the SEV geophysical method. First, the general theory of electrical resistivity is presented, analyzing the apparent resistivity for a homogeneous soil and a two-layer stratified soil together with the main characteristics of the method. Then a general introduction is made to the study of master curves, the transmission coefficient and current penetration. Subsequently, a homogeneous earth model is used as the initial model for which the values of the sensitivity function can be analytically calculated, normalizing the sensitivity curves to make a qualitative analysis. Finally, the results and conclusions of the 1D and 2D sensitivity function are presented for the different electrode configurations: Wenner, Schlumberger, Dipole-Dipole, Pole-Dipole and Pole-Pole, allowing to determine the vertical and lateral variations of sensitivity and thus determine the advantages and disadvantages of each of the arrangements. Finally, the practical implications of the results obtained are discussed.
