dc.description.abstractEl siguiente es un estudio observacional, descriptivo, de tipo corte transversal que se realizó a la población manejada por el servicio de Ortopedia y Traumatología del Hospital Universitario de Santander. El estudio recolectó de manera consecutiva a los pacientes que presentaban como motivo de su atención heridas causadas por guadañadora entre enero de 2009 y diciembre de 2011. Los pacientes captados fueron categorizados demográficamente y caracterizadas sus lesiones. Se recolectaron en el estudio 52 pacientes, todos ellos masculinos, con edad promedio de 37.2 (DE 12.5) años, Los eventos se presentaron en el 71% en el área rural, el 73% estaban afiliados al régimen subsidiado en salud, además, en la totalidad de los pacientes captados había ausencia de afiliación a la Administradora de Riesgos Profesionales y Administradora de Fondo de Pensiones, también el98% de ellos tenían contratación informal. Todas las lesiones se presentaron en el miembro inferior, 17% de los pacientes con amputación, 77% con fracturas abiertas y 6% con lesiones correspondientes a tejidos blandos. Una fractura abierta desarrolló infección de la cual no se aisló germen. En conclusión los lesionados son adultos jóvenes y la mayoría de las lesiones son severas como amputaciones o fracturas abiertas del miembro inferior.
dc.description.abstractenglishThe following is a cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out to the population managed by the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the University Hospital of Santander. Study was conducted between January 2009 and December 2011, the reason for his attention was wounds caused by grass strimmer. Patients were categorized demographically collected and characterized their injuries submitted. Were collected in the study 52 patients, all of them male, with an average age of 37.2 (12.5) years. The events occurred in 71% in rural áreas, 73% were affiliated to the subsidized health regime, moreover, in the totality of the included patients had no affiliation to the professional risk manager and 98% of them had informal recruitment. All injuries were presented in the lower limb, 17% of patients with amputation, 77% with open fractures and 6% with corresponding injury to soft tissue. An open fracture development infection which is not isolated germ. In conclusión the injured was a Young adult and the most of the injuries are severe that include amputation or open fractures of the lower limb.
