dc.description.abstractEn búsqueda de mejorar la calidad de vida de los habitantes de los municipios de Astrea, La Gloria, Curumaní y Chimichagua, se procedió evaluar la funcionalidad de los sistemas de alcantarillado y tratamientos de aguas residuales, disponiendo de los conocimientos adquiridos en la Universidad Industrial de Santander, con el fin de optimizar la infraestructura existente, mejorando la prestación y cobertura del servicio. Para lograr esto, se diseño una metodología para la captura de información en campo, con el fin de identificar los componentes del sistema; se revisó la información secundaria suministrada por los municipios para tener una referencia de la infraestructura existente. Se investigo en campo los componentes del alcantarillado sanitario, pluvial y tratamiento de aguas residuales, para realizar luego la simulación de los sistemas y encontrar sus deficiencias. Se plantearon alternativas que mejoraran el funcionamiento de la infraestructura existente. En virtud de lo anterior se puede decir que los sistemas actuales, presentes en cada municipio, poseen deficiencias en cuanto a evacuación y tratamiento de aguas; además se debe aumentar la cobertura en las redes de alcantarillado sanitario con el fin de eliminar los focos de contaminación generados por la mala disposición de las aguas servidas. Con lo que respecta a los sistemas de tratamiento, deben ser aumentadas las unidades con el fin de disminuir la carga de DBO entregada en los vertimientos buscando la conservación del medio ambiente. dc.description.abstractenglishLooking for a better life quality for the community in the municipalities of Astrea, La Gloria, Curumaní and Chimichagua, the functionality of the sewage systems and waste water treatment was evaluated, using the knowledge obtained in the Universidad Industrial de Santander, trying to optimize the existent infrastructure, and providing a better service and covering. In order to achieve those goals, a methodology was designed for the field information capture, trying to identificate the system components; the secondary information given by the municipalities was reviewed in order to obtain a reference of the existing infrastructure. The components of the sewage system, pluvial system and waste water treatment were investigated in field, in order to simulate the systems and find their deficiencies. Then, alternatives for the improvement of the existing infrastructure were raised. It can be said that the existing systems in each municipality are deficient in the sewage and treatment of waste water. Plus, the covering of the sewage system must be improved looking for the elimination of pollution centers generated by bad disposal of waste waters. About the treatment systems, the number of working units must be raised in order to minimize the Biological Oxygen Demand in the final pouring of the system, looking for the environment conservation.
