dc.description.abstractEste trabajo de grado tiene como objetivo la reingeniería del módulo de acreditación ABET en la plataforma Comunidad Académica (COMA) de la Universidad Industrial de Santander. A través de una metodología basada en el Proceso Unificado Racional (RUP), se analizó y rediseñó la arquitectura del sistema, mejorando la eficiencia operativa y la calidad de los datos procesados. Se identificaron limitaciones en el módulo existente, desarrollado con metodologías no ideales para el procesamiento de la acreditación, lo que motivó la implementación de nuevas funcionalidades alineadas con los estándares internacionales de acreditación ABET. El proyecto incluyó fases de análisis, diseño, desarrollo y pruebas, donde se aplicaron técnicas de ingeniería inversa y reestructuración del código y la base de datos. Asimismo, se diseñaron prototipos validados por los usuarios finales y se ejecutaron pruebas end-to-end para asegurar el correcto funcionamiento del sistema. El resultado fue un módulo reestructurado, modular y mantenible, que permite gestionar de manera eficaz los procesos de evaluación por rúbricas, facilitar el análisis de resultados y generar reportes estructurados. Esta solución contribuye significativamente al fortalecimiento de los procesos de acreditación en la universidad y mejora la interacción entre estudiantes, docentes y líderes académicos.
dc.description.abstractenglishThis undergraduate thesis aims to reengineer the ABET accreditation module within the Comunidad Académica (COMA) platform at the Universidad Industrial de Santander. Using a methodology based on the Rational Unified Process (RUP), the system’s architecture was analyzed and redesigned to improve operational efficiency and the quality of processed data. Several limitations were identified in the existing module, which had been developed using suboptimal methodologies for accreditation processing. This prompted the implementation of new functionalities aligned with ABET’s international accreditation standards. The project encompassed phases of analysis, design, development, and testing, incorporating techniques such as reverse engineering and the restructuring of both code and database. Additionally, interface prototypes were designed and validated by end users, and end-to-end testing was carried out to ensure the system’s correct functionality. The result was a restructured, modular, and maintainable module that effectively supports rubric-based evaluation processes, facilitates result analysis, and enables the generation of structured reports. This solution significantly strengthens the university’s accreditation processes and enhances interaction among students, faculty, and academic leaders.
