dc.description.abstractEl trabajo de investigación centro como su objeto el analizar por medio de series estadísticas, las variaciones que tuvieron los precios de los alimentos y su impacto en el consumo del arroz y la carne bovina en Santander entre los años de 1940 y 1950, en donde las políticas económicas que surgieron en Colombia durante el siglo XX se pudieron entender como reacciones en contra de los problemas de inflación en los precios de los alimentos, para favorecer los procesos de colonización de tierras adjudicadas pero no explotadas por los dueños. Una de ellas, la protección arancelaria, se tornó un componente importante tanto para la industria como para la agricultura, y fue uno de los ejes de la política que se mantuvo prácticamente desde la gran depresión hasta el fin del siglo XX. Para el alcance de los objetivos se exploró la base teórica de la Nueva Historia Económica de Colombia, a la cabeza del profesor Salomón Kalmanovitz; logrando finalmente un acercamiento a los datos y noticias de las fuentes, y como resultado de la investigación se llegó a la conclusión que
dc.description.abstractenglishThe research center as its object the series analyzed by statistical variations were the food prices and their impact on the consumption of rice and bovine meat in Santander between 1940 and 1950, where the economic policies that emerged in Colombia during the twentieth century could be understood as reactions against the problems of inflation in food prices, to favor the colonization of land adjudicated but not exploited by the owners. One of them, tariff protection, became an important component for industry and for agriculture, and was one of the shafts of the policy was practically since the Great Depression to the end of the twentieth century. To reach the goals was explored the theoretical base of the New Economic History of Colombia, at the head of Professor Solomon Kalmanovitz, finally obtaining closer to data and news sources, and as a result of the investigation was concluded that these actors caused an increase in food prices and therefore affect consumption in society Santander.
