dc.description.abstractenglish | In this research project, a four-bar polycentric knee mechanism was constructed, implementing genetic algorithms as a synthesis methodology. A modified curve of knee kinematics was used as conditional patterns, including the relative anteroposterior translational movement and a variant of the Watt mechanism. The main bodies of the mechanism, which bear lesser loads, were constructed using 100% solid 3D printing with Epoxi 9400 resin. Meanwhile, critical components such as arms and torsion pins/springs were machined using conventional lathe and milling machines, with Aluminum 6063 and stainless steel AISI 304, respectively. As a result, a functional prototype was obtained, providing stability and comfort to the patient during walking, with a production cost of COP 2,000,000 (Colombian Pesos), an estimated lifespan of 2 years, and a very low probability of failure due to galvanic corrosion. This is a relevant factor considering the humid rural environment in which the patient operates. The validation of this project was carried out during various design phases, including 3D printing to verify movement requirements and make modifications to the geometric configuration. Solid Works simulations were conducted, yielding favorable results for displacement analysis and maximum Von Mises stress. Additionally, patient satisfaction surveys were administered.
