dc.description.abstract	La ciénaga río Viejo hace parte del complejo cenagoso del Magdalena medio, influenciado por el ciclo hidrológico anual, el cual determina su forma, tamaño y condiciones tróficas. Este tipo de ecosistema presenta elevada biomasa de plantas acuáticas, las cuales son el hábitat temporal o permanente de diversas comunidades, como los macroinvertebrados acuáticos (MIA), uno de los grupos más diversos y abundantes dentro de ecosistemas dulceacuícolas estudiados como bioindicadores, su papel en la red trófica, ecológica y funcional, entre otros. Estos especímenes son depositados en colecciones biológicas sin catalogación o registro fotográfico. Razón por la cual en el presente trabajo se creó un inventario con los registros fotográficos de los MIA recolectados en tres diferentes estaciones (La Portugala, el Cruce y la Sandovala) en la ciénaga Río Viejo del Departamento de Santander, durante el mes de julio de 2018. Los MIA asociados a las macrófitas se distribuyeron en (2) phylum, tres (3) clases, 6 (seis) órdenes, 20 familias, 28 géneros confirmados depositados en 94 viales dentro de la colección del MHN-UIS. La estación con mayor riqueza fue La Sandovala y la de menor Portugala. El orden con mayor variedad de géneros fue Diptera. El Grupo Funcional Alimentario (GFA) con mayor riqueza fue el de los depredadores y el menor los detritívoros. La riqueza de MIA fue mayor en la estación Sandovala y menor en el Cruce. El hábito de vida más representativo fue el de los Reptador-Trepador-Agarrador (R.T.A). Los caracteres morfológicos variaron entre los diversos géneros y fueron decisivos para diferenciar los individuos en las respectivas especies encontradas. La mayoría de MIA se distribuyeron en la zona Andina del país y en menor medida en la Amazonia. La taxonomía, caracteres ecológicos y de distribución se implementó en la construcción del catálogo fotográfico como apoyo didáctico y divulgativo acerca de la fauna de MIA en la ciénaga de Río Viejo (Cimitarra, Santander).
dc.description.abstractenglish	The Río Viejo swamp is part of the Magdalena Medio swamp complex, influenced by the annual hydrological cycle, which determines its shape, size and trophic conditions. This type of ecosystem has a high biomass of aquatic plants, which are the temporary or permanent habitat of various communities, such as aquatic macroinvertebrates (AM), one of the most diverse and abundant groups within freshwater ecosystems studied as bioindicators, their role in the trophic, ecological and functional web, among others. These specimens are deposited in biological collections without being cataloged or with photographic records. For this reason, in the present work an inventory was created with the photographic records of the AM collected in three different stations (La Portugala, El Cruce and La Sandovala) in the Río Viejo swamp of the Department of Santander, during the month of July 2018. The AM associated with macrophytes were distributed in (2) phylum, three (3) classes, 6 (six) orders, 20 families, 28 confirmed genera deposited in 94 vials within the MHN-UIS collection. The station with the greatest richness was La Sandovala and the lowest was Portugala. The order with the greatest variety of genera was Diptera. The functional feeding group (FFG) with the highest richness were the predators and the lowest was detritivores. AM richness was higher at the Sandovala station and lower at El Cruce. The most representative life habit were the Sprawler-Climbers-Clingers (S.C.C). The morphological characters varied among the different genera and were decisive to differentiate the individuals in the respective species. The majority of AM were distributed in the Andean zone of the country and to a lesser extent in the Amazon. The taxonomy, ecological and distribution characters were implemented in the construction of the photographic catalog as a didactic and informative support about the AM fauna in the Río Viejo swamp (Cimitarra, Santander).
