dc.description.abstractenglish | The main goal of this project was to create a ventilation system that would provide air conditioning for the workshops dedicated to equipment and machinery maintenance at the Industrial University of Santander (UIS). During the development of the project, the initial air conditions inside the building were determined by measuring temperature, relative humidity, CO and CO2 concentrations, air velocity, and levels of particulate matter such as P2.5 and P10. Two areas were identified within the facility to install the ventilation system, each with a different purpose. The first area includes the workshops for electricity, refrigeration, and spare parts storage, where the staff spends most of their time. Therefore, the system focuses on renewing, circulating, and conditioning the air in this zone. The second area comprises the industrial mechanics and welding workshops, where fumes, gases, and particulate matter are generated. Consequently, the system is designed to extract these contaminants locally and prevent their spread throughout the area. Additionally, simulations were performed using the Solidworks: Flow Simulation tool to validate the proposed designs. In conclusion, the two ventilation systems improve the air quality inside the facility, reduce health risks associated with inhaling contaminants, enhance comfort conditions, and alleviate the accumulation of excess CO2 and humidity caused by the limited ventilation in the space.
