dc.description.abstractEsta investigación procura analizar el uso de la fotografía en la revista gráfica Tierra Nativa (1926-1931), y que tuvo el objetivo de representar a Bucaramanga como una ciudad moderna y a Santander como una región inclinada económicamente al progreso. Utilizando postulados planteados desde la semiótica, se pretende realizar una narración histórica que explique el mensaje fotográfico que las élites de Bucaramanga, durante la segunda mitad de la década de 1920, deseaban compartir divulgando fotografías que expusieran la modernidad de la ciudad y promovieran el progreso en los Santanderes. Este trabajo utilizará los métodos de lectura de imagen propuestos por Roland Barthes para definir el mensaje fotográfico que comunicaba Tierra Nativa. De esta forma, se identifican y explican cuatro usos como lo son la fotografía urbana, la fotografía de los proyectos y obras en construcción de infraestructura vial de carácter regional, la fotografía panorámica y la fotografía aérea. Con ello, este trabajo busca contribuir a la preservación del patrimonio cultural y arquitectónico de la ciudad de Bucaramanga. *
dc.description.abstractenglishThis study seeks to analyze the use of photography in the ilustrated magazine Tierra Nativa (1926–1931), which sought to portray Bucaramanga as a modern city and Santander as a region economically inclined toward progress. Using postulates from semiotics, this paper aims to create a historical narrative that explains the photographic message that Bucaramanga's elites, during the second half of the 1920s, intended to convey by publishing images that showcased the city’s modernity and promoted development in Santander. This research uses Roland Barthes’ image Reading approach to define the photographic message communicated by Tierra Nativa. In doing so, four specific uses of photography were identified and explained: urban photography, photography of regional road infrastructure projects and constructions, panoramic photography, and aerial photography. This study wishes to contribute to the preservation of Bucaramanga’s cultural and architectural heritage.
