dc.description.abstract	Este trabajo presenta una propuesta de aula con una visión constructivista sobre cómo se aprende y se enseña el algoritmo de cada una de las operaciones fundamentales en el sistema maya. El objetivo de esta investigación es identificar y analizar la influencia de la aritmética maya como una fuente de motivación en los niños de cuarto grado para aprender y reforzar las operaciones fundamentales como son la suma, la resta, la multiplicación y la división de números naturales; y de esta manera el estudiante aumente su interés por aprender matemáticas. Esta investigación de aula se realizó en la Institución Educativa Las Américas con 42 estudiantes de cuarto primaria. Consistió en implementar una prueba diagnóstica y cuatro talleres con una variedad de actividades dinámicas que los estudiantes primero las desarrollaron en el material recreativo (tablero, palos de paleta, fríjoles y conchas hechas en papel), y después las resolvieron en los talleres. Las actividades fueron diseñadas con el fin de observar y analizar la evolución de los estudiantes ante este tema nuevo y a partir de él afianzar las operaciones aritméticas básicas. Los resultados de esta investigación muestran las destrezas y debilidades de los estudiantes, desde la prueba diagnóstica hasta el último taller, después de haber sido sometidos a un tema nunca visto, donde los estudiantes pudieron adquirir nuevos conocimientos, concepciones, y principalmente, aptitud matemática. Se crearon ambientes lúdicos e histórico-matemáticos que permitieron un crecimiento en la estimulación de la actividad mental del estudiante.
dc.description.abstractenglish	This paper presents a propusal of classroom with a constructivist point abount how to learn and how to teach the algorithm of the basic operations of the mayan system. The main goal of this propusal is to identify and analize the influence of the mayan aritmethic as a source of motivation for fourth graders to learn and support the basic operations such as the sum, the substraction , the multiplication and division of natural numbers; in such a way that the student delights in his/her interest to learn mathematics. This research was carried out in The Americas School with forty two students of 4th level (primary school). It consisted of implementing a diagnosis test and four workshops with a great variety of dynamic activities which were solved by the students by means of board, sticks, beans, shells and then in workshops. The activities were designed to observe and analize the improvement of the studients in order to learn how to face a new topic. The results of this research show the skills and weakness of the students, from the diagnosis test to the last workshop, after being faced to a new theme, in which students could acquire new know ledge, conceptions and the most important, a great variety of history and math environment was created in order to create a better growth in the stimulation of the mental activity of the student.
