dc.description.abstractLas colecciones geológicas son la conexión tangible entre el pasado, presente y futuro, pues contienen una riqueza informativa que las hacen de alto interés científico y académico, a esto se debe su importancia para ser conservadas, documentadas y accesibles, llegando incluso a apoyar labores de divulgación científica que aproximen la academia a la sociedad. En la Universidad Industrial de Santander existen numerosos conjuntos de elementos geológicos disponibles, sin embargo requieren de organización, consolidación y mantenimiento para emplearse como material de apoyo a las actividades prácticas de las distintas asignaturas del programa; después de todo el valor de la información de las colecciones reside en su calidad, integridad y potencial de uso para la investigación y la educación. Hasta la fecha no existe una colección de minerales organizada por grupos mineralógicos que contribuya al desarrollo de los objetivos de las asignaturas en las cuales se forjan los conocimientos básicos necesarios para la formación académica y profesional. Por consiguiente se propuso la realización de pasantías de investigación con énfasis en la gestión y organización del material geológico existente en la Escuela de Geología. El propósito del presente trabajo es la sistematización y catalogación de los ejemplares mineralógicos para la creación de la Colección de Minerales. Como resultado se genera un catálogo físico y digital con foto y descripción detallada de las propiedades físicas de los 50 minerales seleccionados junto con el modelo 3D de las 10 muestras más representativas.
dc.description.abstractenglishGeological collections are the tangible connection between the past, present and future, since they contain a wealth of information that makes them of high scientific and academic interest, which is why they are so important to be preserved, documented and accessible, even to support scientific dissemination efforts that bring academia closer to society. At the Universidad Industrial de Santander there are numerous sets of geological elements available, however they require organization, consolidation, and maintenance to be used as support material for the practical activities of the different subjects of the program; after all, the value of the information in the collections lies in their quality, integrity and potential use for research and education. To date, there is no mineral collection organized by mineralogical groups that would contribute to the development of the objectives of the subjects in which the basic knowledge necessary for academic and professional training is forged. Therefore, it was proposed to carry out research internships with emphasis on the management and organization of the existing geological material in the School of Geology. The purpose of this work is the systematization and cataloging of mineralogical specimens for the creation of the Mineral Collection. As a result, a physical and digital catalog is generated with a photo and detailed description of the physical properties of the 50 selected minerals together with the 3D model of the 10 most representative samples.
