dc.description.abstractEl objetivo de este trabajo es analizar el efecto en el mercado laboral colombiano del creciente flujo migratorio de venezolanos a Colombia, enfocado en la variación salarial de la población que reside en Colombia. Se busca responder la siguiente pregunta problemática: ¿Ha variado el salario de los colombianos como resultado de la llegada de migrantes venezolanos al país? Para estimar el impacto en el salario, el estudio clasifica a los migrantes y nativos por nivel educativo y experiencia laboral. Con esto se busca cuantificar la variación salarial de la población que reside en Colombia cuando la oferta laboral aumenta al incluir a la población migrante venezolana en edad de trabajar, considerando que pueden actuar como sustitutos cercanos o complementarios de la fuerza laboral colombiana. Dependiendo del nivel de calificación de los migrantes, la variación salarial de los colombianos se cuantifica. Como resultado preliminar, la caracterización de los tipos de trabajo migrante se presenta durante el período 2013-2019, con base en información de la Gran Encuesta Integrada de Hogares realizada por el Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadística (DANE) de Colombia. El resultado principal es responder a la pregunta problemática planteada y, de ser afirmativa, mostrar las variaciones porcentuales para cada tipo de fuerza laboral nativa y de otro tipo, es decir, el impacto para todos los trabajadores colombianos. Si solo se estimara el efecto del número total de migrantes (sin clasificar por el conocimiento y las habilidades que poseen) sobre los nativos, se esperaría un efecto negativo sobre los salarios. Esto se debe a que se supone que los migrantes y los nativos son sustitutos cercanos que compiten en el mercado laboral, reduciendo así los salarios (eso significa que cualquier migrante puede ingresar al mercado laboral y ocupar cualquier trabajo sin mirar el nivel educativo y la experiencia).
dc.description.abstractenglishThe objective of this work is to analyze the effect on the Colombian labor market of the increasing migratory flow of Venezuelans to Colombia, focused on the salary variation of the population residing in Colombia. It seeks to answer the following problem question: Has the salary of Colombians changed as the result of the arrival of Venezuelan migrants to the country? To estimate the impact on salary, the study classifies migrants and natives by educational level and work experience. This seeks to quantify the salary variation of the population residing in Colombia when the labor supply increases by including the Venezuelan migrant population of working age, considering that they can act as close or complementary substitutes for the Colombian workforce. Depending on the level of qualification of migrants, the wage variation of Colombians may be quantified. As a preliminary result, the characterization of the types of migrant labor is presented during the 2013-2019 period, based on information from the Great Integrated Household Survey conducted by the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) of Colombia. The main result is to answer the problem question posed and, if so, to show the percentage variations for each type of native and other general labor force, that is, the impact for all Colombian workers. If only the effect of the total number of migrants (without classifying for the knowledge and skills they possess) on the natives was estimated, a negative effect on wages would be expected. This is because migrants and natives are supposed to be close substitutes competing in the labor market, therefore reducing wages (That means, any migrant can enter the labor market and occupying any job without look educational level and experience).
