dc.description.abstractLa problemática de la seguridad vial constituye un desafío multidimensional de gran relevancia en el ámbito global. Se traduce en altos costos para la salud pública y la economía. Este estudio se enfoca en la seguridad vial en una intersección específica en el municipio de Barrancabermeja, Colombia, mediante la aplicación de la metodología iRAP (Programa de Evaluación de Riesgos en Carreteras). El objetivo de la investigación es identificar los factores críticos en la seguridad del sitio mencionado y sugerir estrategias oportunas y efectivas de mitigación. Para lograr esto, se realiza una revisión profunda de la literatura nacional e internacional en los elementos claves que afectan la seguridad vial y la aplicación de la metodología iRAP en el área del estudio. A través de la identificación y descripción detallada de la intersección en cuestión, los principios y criterios de riesgo de iRAP son aplicados y, en consecuencia, medidas específicas en base a las necesidades de la localidad son formuladas para mejorar la seguridad en este punto crítico. Es de esperar que los resultados y recomendaciones extraídos de este estudio jueguen un papel en la sensibilización de las autoridades locales y usuarios de la vía para promover la prevención de accidentes de tráfico y así proteger la vida humana.
dc.description.abstractenglishThe issue of road safety is a multidimensional challenge of great global relevance. It translates into high costs for public health and the economy. This study focuses on road safety at a specific intersection in the municipality of Barrancabermeja, Colombia, by applying the iRAP (Road Risk Assessment Program) methodology. The objective of the research is to identify the critical factors in the safety of the mentioned site and to suggest timely and effective mitigation strategies. To achieve this, a thorough review of the national and international literature on the key elements affecting road safety and the application of the iRAP methodology in the study area is carried out. Through the identification and detailed description of the intersection in question, the iRAP principles and risk criteria are applied and, consequently, specific measures based on the needs of the locality are formulated to improve safety at this critical point. It is hoped that the results and recommendations drawn from this study will play a role in raising awareness among local authorities and road users to promote the prevention of traffic accidents and thus protect human life.
