dc.description.abstract	El presente trabajo realiza un balance historiográfico sobre la producción académica de la Escuela de Historia en torno a las provincias nororientales de la actual Colombia, durante el periodo comprendido entre 1778 y 1854. Este estudio busca identificar las principales tendencias temáticas y metodológicas que han orientado la investigación regional en dicho marco temporal, permitiendo reconocer cómo se ha construido el conocimiento histórico sobre este territorio desde la academia. La delimitación cronológica responde a la necesidad de examinar la transición del orden colonial al republicano y la posterior configuración del Estado de Santander, procesos que marcaron transformaciones políticas, sociales y administrativas decisivas para la historia regional. La metodología empleada combina la revisión bibliográfica con la clasificación de los estudios según sus enfoques historiográficos, así como un análisis comparativo que permite evidenciar continuidades, rupturas y reconfiguraciones en las líneas de investigación de la Escuela. Este enfoque posibilita comprender cómo las preocupaciones investigativas han evolucionado en relación con los contextos académicos y las disponibilidades documentales. Los resultados muestran que la Escuela de Historia ha consolidado una producción diversa, caracterizada por su amplitud temática y su multifocalización territorial. Esta pluralidad se expresa en estudios centrados en distintas localidades y problemáticas, sin una hegemonía clara de enfoques o espacios, lo que ha permitido articular miradas políticas, sociales, culturales y económicas dentro de un mismo horizonte regional. En conjunto, la producción analizada revela un esfuerzo sostenido por comprender la complejidad histórica del nororiente colombiano y sus procesos de articulación con el proyecto nacional. Así, la Escuela de Historia se consolida como un referente académico fundamental para el estudio del siglo XIX en Colombia, al aportar interpretaciones renovadas que fortalecen la historia regional y su diálogo con la historiografía nacional.
dc.description.abstractenglish	This research presents a historiographical balance of the academic production developed by the School of History concerning the northeastern provinces of present-day Colombia between 1778 and 1854. The study aims to identify the main thematic and methodological trends that have guided regional historical research during this period, allowing an understanding of how historical knowledge about this territory has been constructed within the academic sphere. The chronological delimitation is justified by the need to examine the transition from the colonial to the republican order and the subsequent configuration of the State of Santander—processes that represented decisive political, social, and administrative transformations for the region. The methodology combines bibliographic review, classification of studies according to their historiographical approaches, and comparative analysis to highlight continuities, ruptures, and reconfigurations within the School’s research lines. This approach makes it possible to understand how scholarly interests have evolved in relation to academic contexts and the availability of documentary sources. The findings reveal that the School of History has developed a diverse body of work characterized by broad thematic scope and territorial multifocality. This diversity is reflected in studies focused on various localities and issues, without a single dominant perspective, allowing for the articulation of political, social, cultural, and economic viewpoints within a shared regional framework. Overall, the analyzed production demonstrates a sustained effort to comprehend the historical complexity of northeastern Colombia and its articulation with the broader national project. Consequently, the School of History stands out as a key academic reference for the study of the nineteenth century in Colombia, contributing renewed interpretations that strengthen regional history and its dialogue with national historiography.
